The Willingboro Fire Department has received free smoke detectors from the "Operation 6ABC Save A Life" program. Chief of Department Burnett and Firefighter Anderson represented the fire department at the annual presentation of the detectors. The 18th Annual "Operation 6ABC Save A Life" campaign press-conference and luncheon were held at the Philadelphia Fire Academy on March 17th.
"Operation 6ABC Save A Life" is a collective partnership of Philadelphia's 6ABC News, fire departments from the tri-state area, Kidde, the Home Depot, and local Toyota dealers. The program distributes fire safety information and free smoke detectors to people throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. "Operation 6ABC Save A Life" distributes thousands of smoke detectors to over one hundred fire departments each year. 1,400 smoke detectors were distributed at this year's event with Willingboro receiving 84 of the detectors.
This year's event was co-hosted by 6ABC news personalities Adam Joseph, Karen Rogers, and Cecily Tynan. 6ABC President and General Manager Bernie Prazenica, and Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers spoke about the importance of this event and getting smoke detectors into every home. Lunch was provided by Jack's Firehouse and Grill of Philadelphia.
The free smoke detectors are available at Willingboro Fire Headquarters at Charleston Road and JFK Way. Free smoke detectors can also be requested by visiting the department's website at www.Willingborofire.org, and clicking on the "Smoke Detector" link in the "Public" section. Fire department personnel will provide smoke detectors for you to install in your home, or they will assist with installing the detectors. |
