Firefighters were called to 26 Galton Lane at 10:05 am on Thursday, December 23rd for a reported house fire. Engine 1613 responded and was advised enroute that police on location were reporting smoke from the attic. When Engine 1613 arrived on scene in three minutes, Firefighter Ferrell advised the County's 911 Center that there was heavy smoke coming from the attic of the home.

Firefighters Carcasio and Robertson entered the home and found smoke on the first and second floor. They took a 1 3/4" hoseline to the second floor and started checking the attic for fire. They eventually found a small area of fire in the attic and in the wall of the master bedroom. The crew was quickly able to extinguish the fire on the second floor.

Chief of Department Burnett arrived on scene and took Command of the incident. He had a crew from Westampton proceed to the garage roof to help ventilate the attic of the home. A crew from Mount Laurel was sent to the first floor to remove some of the ceiling since there was fire burning between the first and second floor. Chief Burnett was able to place the fire under control at 10:28 am.

An investigator from the Burlington County Fire Marshal's Office was called to determine the cause of the fire. The fire appears to be accidental in nature. The residents of the home were unable to remain in the home due to the damage from firefighting efforts and were able to make arrangements for temporary housing. A unit from Delran was on stand-by at Willingboro Fire Headquarters in case of any other incidents in the township. All units were clear from the scene at 12 pm.
