Fire heavily damaged the second floor of a home in the Somerset Park section of Willingboro on the evening of January 25th. The department was called to 6 Snowden Lane at 9:47 pm for several 911 calls of a house on fire. Engine 1613 and Ladder 1615 arrived in five minutes and found heavy fire coming from the second floor of the home. Lieutenant Ferrell placed "All Companies In Service", signifying a major fire.

Engine 1613 connected a 5" water supply hose to a nearby hydrant and proceeded to the front of the home. Firefighter Costello pulled a 2" hoseline and proceeded to the second floor to start extinguishing the fire. Firefighters D. O'Donnell and LeHuquet also entered the second floor with hand tools. The crew encountered heavy fire and heat conditions, as fire was burning in several rooms, plus the attic.

A 1 3/4" hoseline was then brought into the home by a crew from Burlington Township. This line was used to put out a fire that started to burn on the steps, momentarily trapping the crew that was fighting the fire on the second floor. The line was then used to assist with attacking the fire on the second floor. Crews from Beverly, Westampton, and Mount Laurel were all rotated into the second floor to extinguish and prevent the spread of the fire that was still burning in the attic.

Chief of Department Burnett arrived on scene and called for additional manpower. While the fire on the second floor was extinguished, there was still fire burning in the attic. Firefighters O'Donnell and LeHuquet used Ladder 1615 to access the burning attic from the outside of the home. The crew was able to extinguish the remaining fire in the attic, and the fire was placed under control at 10:25 pm.

Crews remained on scene for several hours to douse any hot spots and check for hidden fire. They also assisted the Burlington County and NJ State Fire Marshals with the investigation that showed the cause of the fire to be accidental. There were no injuries as a result of the fire, and the residents made arraigements to stay with other family members since the house was deemed uninhabitable by the Willingboro Construction Office. All crews were clear of the scene at 2:23 am.
