The department's C Platoon was able to quickly extinguish a fast moving fire in a Millbrook Park home on the evening of May 30th. Willingboro Firefighters, and firefighters from surrounding towns, were called to a fire at 12 Melbourne Lane at 6:33 pm. Engine 1612, and Supervisor 1610 (Lieutenant Ferrell) were on scene at 6:37 pm. Captain Clark reported fire coming from a window on the side of the house, and requested All Companies in Service.

Firefighter Carcasio pulled a 2" hose line and proceeded to the front door. Captain Clark, and Firefighter D. O'Donnell were using hand tools to force open the locked front door. They were quickly force their way inside, and were greeted by heavy heat and smoke conditions. The crew crawled into the dark home and found its way to a rear bedroom and started to extinguish the fire.

Chief of Department Burnett arrived on scene and took Command of the incident. The next due fire apparatus from Beverly connected to a nearby fire hydrant and provided a water supply for Engine 1612. The crew from Beverly Engine 1222 used a 1 3/4" hose line to provide back up to the crew from Engine 1612 The crews also conducted a search of the first and second floors of the home. The fire was placed under control at 6:57 pm.

Crews from Delran, Mount Laurel, and Riverside were on scene assisting with checking for hidden fire, and removing burned debris from the home. All utilities were disconnected from the home. Fire damage was limited to a room on the first floor, with heat and smoke damage in the remainder of the home. The home was deemed uninhabitable by the Willingboro Township Construction Office. An investigation to the cause of the fire was being conducted by the Burlington County and NJ State Fire Marshals Offices, and the Willingboro Township Police Department's Detective Bureau.

There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries due to the fire. All units were clear from the scene at 10:39 pm.
