Willingboro Firefighters were called to the rear of the Garfield Park East Elementary School at 5:17 pm on January 30th for an unknown type fire. A resident called 911 and reported debris and grass on fire. An additional 911 call was received and reported a fire in the rear of 24 Empire Lane.

Engines 1613 and 1612 arrived on scene at 5:24 pm and found a storage shed and grass on fire close to the house. Lieutenant Costello had 1613's crew pulled a 1 3/4 inch hoseline and start to extinguish the fire. The crew also had to protect the nearby house due to the radiant heat. 1612's crew assisted with extinguishing the fire and checking the house for damage. Lieutenant Costello placed the fire under control at 5:41 pm.

The shed was a total loss, and there was no noted damage to the house. The Burlington County Fire Marshal responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. All units were clear from the incident at 6:28 pm.
