The department was sent to 73 Garland Lane at 1:02 pm on November 20th for a van on fire. While enroute to the location, Engine 1613 noticed a column of smoke coming from the Garfield Park section. The crew arrived to find a van on fire in the street.

Firefighter Costello used a 1 3/4" hoseline to start extinguishing the fire which was located in the engine and passenger compartments. Firefighter D. O'Donnell used hand tools to start opening doors and windows on the van. Chief of Department Burnett arrived on scene and was able to place the fire under control at 1:10 pm.

The crew was able to keep the fire from entering the storage area of the van. This helped keep the fire from some power tools and supplies that were in the van. The van was towed from the scene and Engine 1613 was available at 1:33 pm.
