By Firefighter Michael Centrone
February 5, 2025

Christopher Clark began his fire service career as a volunteer at the age of sixteen when he joined the Ewansville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 in Eastampton in February of 1996.

Under the watchful eyes and tutelage of the Oatman brothers, Chris’ passion for the fire service grew. Here he would spend almost every day and night learning and listening to the men who have guided him down the path that eventually led him to the Willingboro Fire Department.

Chris was exposed to the fire service at a very young age, growing up around the Westampton Fire Department, where his uncle served in various capacities including Chief of the Department. Although Chris began a career working in the municipal utilities field, his passion for the fire service never faltered, which led him to begin testing for numerous departments in the area. In 2002, he was given the opportunity to become a per diem firefighter/EMT for the Westampton Fire Department. In May of 2004, Chris became a full-time firefighter/EMT for Bordentown Township Fire District No. 2.

Through hard work and the support and guidance of his wife and fire service mentors, Chris became the 17th career firefighter for the Willingboro Fire Department. During his 20 years of dedicated service, Chris took on many roles which included Fire Prevention Coordinator and the fire department Ems supply lead. Chris is a Life member of the New Jersey State

Firemen’s Relief Association as well as an Exempt Member of the Relief Association.

Throughout his 28-year fire service career, Chris has been honored to receive multiple awards from organizations including the Eastampton Fire Rescue Department, The Willingboro Fire Department, The Burlington County Fire Chief’s Association, The

Burlington County Fire Marshal’s Associations, The PFANJ and The Burn Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. These awards include various unit citations for his involvement in life saving operations both as a volunteer and as a member of the Willingboro Fire Department and the Fire Prevention Officer of the Year award for his work as the Deputy Fire Marshal for Maple Shade Township.

Congratulations Fire Fighter Chris Clark. We wish you a happy and healthy retirement!
